INTERVIEW CHATHAM

over 30 years creating footwear designed to accompany life’s

everyday adventures – and has now grown into one of the UK’s biggest names in sailing and country

footwear. Here, Jack Cheeseman catches up with Philip Marsh, MD of Chatham, to find out more…

In conversation with…

Born from a love of the great outdoors, Chatham has spent

F

amily-run at its core, the Chatham brand has grown into one of the UK’s key names in footwear for the sailing enthusiast and

countryside consumer alike, and the company is recognised for its commitment to quality, comfort and timeless design. “While our roots are firmly grounded in the marine world, the brand has naturally evolved into the country lifestyle space,” explains Philip Marsh, the Managing Director of Chatham, “with our deck shoes now widely embraced across rural communities, from farming to equestrian and beyond. “Inspired by both our nautical heritage and

the rhythms of country life, our collections are designed to transition effortlessly from deck to land, and that’s what our customers love.” Each pair of Chatham shoes is crafted using premium materials and considered construction, delivering durability and performance without compromising on style. The G2 deck shoes, for example, remain at the heart of the brand, continuing to be a best-selling and trusted choice for the brand’s customers, says Mr Marsh.

Q&A

Q: How has 2026 been for you so far? Philip Marsh: It’s been an exciting and progressive year so far. With new collections launching and show season underway, we are heading into one of our most important and rewarding times of year. The start of the year has also been a key period for forward planning, with a strong focus on designing and developing our 2027 collections. This ongoing investment in product ensures we continue to evolve while staying true to what our customers value most. We’ve already seen a very positive response

to the first drops of our SS26 collection, with customers engaging strongly with the new styles. It’s always rewarding to see the work that goes into curating each collection resonate so well. Alongside this, we are continuing to build on our presence within the country and equestrian space, including our ongoing

sponsorship of Bicton Horse Trials, a key event for the brand and an important touchpoint for connecting with our audience.

Q: Tell us about some of your biggest recent product ranges. PM: Our SS26 collection builds on our core strengths – while introducing fresh updates across both men’s and women’s ranges. The collection has been carefully curated to offer versatile, wearable styles that fit seamlessly into our customers’ lifestyles. For women, there is a continued focus on

creating footwear that feels both feminine and functional, styles that can be worn from the farm to the stables, on dog walks or day-to- day life, without compromising on comfort or confidence. The Pippa G2 remains a standout, now refreshed in new colourways including tan and lavender, combining signature Chatham styling with our long-lasting quality promise.
