VACUUM PUMP MEETS FOOD PACKAGING MACHINE DEMANDS
Proseal, a food packaging machine manufacturer based in Cheshire, has selected oil-lubricated, rotary vane pumps from Gardner Denver for its vacuum/gas packing technologies, to help ensure goods are tightly sealed. Within this industry, the machines must be washed
down at the end of every shift, which poses a problem for vacuum pumps. Faced with the
harsh working environment and corrosive cleaning agents, there is the risk of rusting and reduced pump performance over time. To overcome this challenge, Gardner Denver has developed an enclosure
for its Elmo Rietschle VC 303 vacuum pump, which means it can be sited alongside Proseal’s vacuum/gas packing machines in wet environments. The cover has been developed in line with the Hazard Analysis and Critical
Control Point (HACCP) principles, which establish the appropriate food safety management procedures that businesses should have in place. Made from stainless steel, the cover means the vacuum pump can withstand wet environments, ensuring Proseal can help its customers maintain the highest hygiene standards, without affecting the vacuum pump’s performance. Webtec has introduced the VFD120E electric-operated variable- priority flow divider. Designed for use on mobile machinery, this allows the speed of hydraulic motors on trailed agricultural attachments and on mining and construction machinery to be controlled remotely. The 420 bar rated VFD120E offers greater levels of efficiency than
previous generation products. As a three-port pressure-compensated variable-priority flow divider with an electric drive motor, this can provide constant flow to a primary system while still powering a secondary system. This can be used to control hydraulic motor and cylinder speeds by applying voltage to the valve, which in turn controls the flow rate. The design of the flow divider has been optimised to minimise pressure losses across the valve, substantially reducing the energy wasted in the form of heat. The VFD120E is available in multiple variants offering a maximum working pressure of 420 bar and total flow capacity up to 120 lpm.
