DRIVES, CONTROLS & MOTORS PRODUCT FOCUS COMPACT BRUSHLESS DC SLOTLESS MOTORS
New to Portescap’s Ultra EC range of brushless DC slotless motors is the 30ECT, a four pole motor which offers ultra high torque and power (up to 245W max continuous) alongside smooth operation and long life. Available in two lengths – the 30ECT64 and the 30ECT90 models – these feature the company’s patented Ultra coil technology which is said to provide unparalleled torque and power density with limited core losses over a wide range of working speeds without friction and brush wear. These also feature a high-speed rotor design to sustain speeds up to 30,000rpm.
The 30ECT90 opens new areas for slim/long packages with impressive torque capabilities, while the 30ECT64 bridges the gap in terms of torque between the 22ECT82 and 30ECT90, allowing high speed capabilities. The rugged 30ECT can sustain peak torque during 2s up to 1.3Nm (30ECT64) and 2.4Nm (30ECT90).
According to the company, the motors can be adapted for most applications within
industrial markets. Portescap
www.portescap.com NEW PLUG-IN MOTOR CONTROLLER LAUNCHED
The NP5 plug-in motor controller from Nanotec is suitable for both brushless DC motors and stepper motors. This has a PCI Express connector that allows for fast and easy integration into a customer-specific board, and can control motors with a rated current of up to 6A via FOC, Hall sensors, or sensorless control. In addition to position, speed and torque control, operating modes with cyclical set value specification are also available for interpolated multi-axis operation. The free Plug & Drive Studio software is available for
parameterisation and programming. In addition, the product can be connected to a higher-level controller via SPI, EtherCAT, Modbus RTU or CANopen.

A NEW DRIVE FOR HAZARDOUS AREAS
A new variant of Applied Motion Products’ (AMP) STAC6 series microstepping drive for high performance motion control, that has international certification for hazardous area use, is available from Mclennan. The STAC6-Q-H drive specifically covers ATEX and IEC-Ex certification for Class I, Zone 2 locations and UL certification for Class 1, Div 2, Group C & D locations. The panel mounted product includes
an integrated intelligent drive with RS-232 and RS-485 communication and offers motion control configuration options that include step and direction, analogue voltage, PC or PLC host control, as well as standalone multitasking programmable control. With its direct-on-line AC power and programmable output current from 0.5 to 6.0 A/phase, the drive will suit medium-to-large sized hazardous area compatible stepper motors producing a high holding torque and a wide speed range, the company explains.
