HP and Siemens expand opportunities for 3D design and additive
manufacturing innovation S
for Full-Color 3D Printing Capabilities through HP Multi Jet Fusion With the latest
releases, Siemens, a leader in digital innovation software, and
HP, the global industry leader in 3D printing, will enable users of Siemens’ NX™ software and Solid
Edge®software to design and
produce full color 3D-printed parts. HP’s Jet Fusion 3D 300/500
series is the industry’s first 3D printing solution for the production of engineering-grade, functional parts in full color, black or white – with voxel-level control – in a fraction of the time of other solutions. The Jet Fusion 3D 300/500 series also supports the leading color file formats including 3MF, enabling designers to easily produce the color parts they want with a reliable workflow. Users taking advantage of NX and Solid Edge for HP’s Multi Jet Fusion technology will have access to 3MF files ready for HP’s entire portfolio of printers including the industrial-grade HP Jet Fusion 4200/4210 and 300/500 solutions.

High-performance 3D printed parts with software support from e-Xstream engineering
today with the news that high-performance KetaSpire® PEEK AM filament will be the first polyetheretherketone polymer included in e-Xstream engineering’s Digimat® simulation software due for launch in June 2018. “KetaSpire® PEEK’s inclusion in Digimat® represents
S
Solvay’s latest step toward becoming the industry’s leading resource for successfully applying advanced polymers in 3D printing processes,” said Christophe Schramm, business manager for additive manufacturing at Solvay’s Specialty Polymers global business unit. “Solvay is building on its long-standing partnership with e-Xstream engineering to quickly expand the number of specialty polymers available for simulation on the Digimat® platform, and ultimately enable our customers to ‘print it right the first time’ when using Solvay’s high- performing thermoplastics.” Part of the latest edition of Digimat® 2018.1, Digimat®
olvay further established itself as an emerging leader in specialty polymers for additive manufacturing (AM)
for Additive Manufacturing will enable designers and engineers to accurately predict warpage and residual stresses of 3D-printed KetaSpire® PEEK parts as a function of additive manufacturing processes, such as fused filament fabrication (FFF). With Digimat® for Additive Manufacturing, users can further optimize their process and minimize part deformation before 3D- printing their parts. Digimat® 2018.1 is due for global release this June, but Solvay customers can contact Solvay today to benefit from the new dataset describing KetaSpire® PEEK’s material laws. Widely regarded as one of the highest-performing thermoplastic polymers, KetaSpire® PEEK AM filament offers superior mechanical strength and chemical resistance for 3D-printed parts.

Southern Springs and Pressings celebrate 70 successful years of trading N
ew Milton based spring manufacturer, Southern Springs and Pressings Ltd have celebrated their 70th anniversary of trading.
In 1948, Southern Springs Ltd opened their doors for the first time by founding
partners Jack Harman and Richard Fletcher-Jones, they quickly moved the business to a barn in Old Milton and Joseph (Joe) Williams joined the expanding spring manufacturer. Joe and Richard continued to run the spring manufacturing business over the next 40 years.
The spring manufacturing business thrived on being particularly well placed to design and manufacture specialist coiling machines for the production of products that could not be made on standard machines of that era. As the business expanded it became necessary to build a new and more modern factory in its current location in New Milton in 1964.
In 1989, and on the retirement of the two founder members, Tony Williams took
over the running of the business as Chairman. It was at this point that the company widened their manufacturing capability to encompass tool making, the production of metal pressings and wire forms, the spring manufacturing business also embraced new CNC technology.
A new board of Directors were appointed In 2015 with two long serving members
of staff taking up senior roles within the company. Tim Page as Managing Director and Steve Blunt as Quality Director. Under their leadership, supported by the new board and 27 dedicated employees, the firm has invested heavily in state of the art highly complex computer controlled machine tools. SSP has been taken to new heights, winning major long-term contracts ensuring secure employment and greater company profitability, far removed from its humble beginnings in the late 1940’s.
Tim Page, Managing Director said “We are delighted to celebrate 70 years of
trading, the business has grown significantly since opening their doors in 1948. The last few years have seen some huge investment in the factory environment and purchasing of new machines, We are looking forward to developing the business further in 2018 and beyond”.
