still the best approach for many elements of workplace learning. Using virtual training for everything that doesn’t need a physical element is a ay forard that supports the fi scal effi ciency that most organisations need at the moment. In the right circumstances, virtual can achieve even greater results than physical training as it can foster greater networking across regions and provide more collaborative opportunities with the right use of technology and
learning experience design. Lastly, and going back to the importance of development opportunities, the learning experience is not just the training. The training is only one part of a person’s development, which should include everything from the autonomy of deciding what’s important for them through to the discussion with the manager and how to continue the skills implementation. Training sessions or courses in combination with appropriately managed and selected development opportunities at work is an essential mix. This means that training is still an important element of that and quality design and facilitation, whether it’s a physical or virtual learning experience, is key. n
