Dream Doors invests in new training centre

u Kitchen makeover retailer Dream Doors has invested £750,000 in a new, state-of- the-art training centre featuring a range of the company’s products, alongside the latest appliances from Blanco, Franke, Karndean and Samsung. The site, based in the grounds

of the Grade II-listed Cams Hall Estate in Fareham, Hampshire, is a major milestone in the company’s development, adding the infrastructure required to support 100 franchisees by the end of 2019. Dream Doors recently ran its largest

ever franchisee training course at the site, taking seven new business owners and their partners through a comprehensive three-week programme. In the centre, new Dream Doors

owners learn the essentials of their business such as: how to deal with

customers, survey kitchens, fi nd and recruit staff, and order parts. All 84 existing Dream Doors

franchisees will also benefi t from continuous training and development undertaken at the new site. Ed Brewer, director of UK sales,

says: "We offer industry-leading and award-winning training and support, so investing in this new centre is fi tting for the size and status our company has grown to enjoy. “It was high time to move into a

state-of-the-art, purpose-built training centre. It lets us replicate what our business owners will have to do in customers’ homes in a controlled learning environment. "For existing franchisees, we will also be rolling out a series of workshops and courses designed to cater to those who

are at a more advanced stage of their Dream Doors career. This is all part of our ethos of continual professional development. “Dream Doors is continuously

reinvesting in training and support for its new and existing franchisees. In short, while the training centre looks fantastic, it’s not there to be pretty – it’s to help all of our franchisees accelerate their businesses."

IT COULD BE YOU!

u We chose Riverford as we were customers, loved the company and loved the produce! We wanted to work in an ethical, responsible company, where trust and integrity were more important than profi tability. We're passionate about all things environmental. We knew that we worked well as a team and that our skillsets are complementary – so it seemed natural to take on the franchise as a couple and it meant that we could share the experience of setting up, developing and growing our own business. We understand each other’s issues at work and can support one another. It's most defi nitely changed our lives – and for the better. It’s more rewarding

JANET AND JON MIER Janet and Jon have been Riverf ord fra nchise owners since 2007. Here, Janet explains why they chose Riverf ord and how they've managed to work successfully together over the years...

and we have a much healthier work-life balance. We've been able to spend more quality time as a family and our boys have been part of the Riverford journey since the day we joined. What’s kept us working successfully

together has been our ability to remain openminded and embrace change. Adapting and constantly looking for ways to improve has kept us motivated and helped us run a successful business for over 11 years. Working through problems and overcoming challenges together has been both productive and rewarding. If I were to give advice to anybody else thinking of running their own business, I would say it’s a great thing to do! Be certain to check out the numbers – it’s important to fully understand the

business model and what’s involved – and build in some contingencies, so there are no shocks. Expect some tough times but some great times, too; the fi rst year can be very hard but also very exciting! Ensure you receive the support you need from the franchisor – don't be afraid to ask for help! If you’re thinking of working with a partner, just make sure you’re not afraid of a debate. It’s sometimes necessary so that you come to some agreement on decisions and strategy. For us, our plan is to carry on

growing and developing our business for the foreseeable future. We are still very excited to be part of Riverford and are looking forward to the many more good years ahead.
