SHOW GUIDE
"Today there are franchise businesses to suit all backgrounds, budgets and interests"
questions to a panel of existing franchisees from a variety of brands. Business owners wanting to expand their
operations through franchising will find crucial information on how to prepare their business and build a franchise network at the Franchising Your Business seminars, hosted by Ashtons Franchise Consulting, the bfa and Franchise Intelligence. With a focus on business success, the
Growing Your Own Business Conference is designed to support all aspiring and existing business owners to grow a prosperous venture. Co-located with the exhibition, the free-to-attend conference will deliver motivation and inspiration via two keynote presentations. On Friday 15 February, Cathy Mosely,
founder of challenger snack-food brand Boundless, will present a keynote talk, Diary of a small business owner, in which she’ll share the realities of life as a entrepreneur and pass on key tips she’s learned on her way to success.
Founder Hannah McCollum, creator of sustainable houmous brand ChicP, will give a keynote presentation on Saturday 16 February, entitled Growing my own business. Hannah comments: “I look forward to sharing where my inspiration came from and how that drove me to set up the company I run today. I hope to help anyone embarking on their own business reflect on where their own passions lie, so that they can tap into the motivation that will help them succeed.” Practical knowledge and skills will be shared in the Growing Your Own Business workshops, where experts in social media, sales, crowdfunding, branding and business planning will share the latest best practice. Visitors can consult with these specialists directly and network with peers at the Growing Your Own Business Hub. The National Franchise Exhibition
has two areas designed to help visitors focus their attention on the franchises of most interest to them. Those wishing to be their own boss but seeking to invest relatively low amounts of capital will be well-served by the Low-cost Opportunities section of the exhibition, where they will find franchises requiring
investment levels starting at under £10,000. Those wishing to escape the constraints
of working at a desk should speak to brands in the Vehicle-based Showcase, where they’ll find opportunities in mobile coffee, gardening and home maintenance. Visitors who would like career guidance
and to identify their transferable skills can benefit from career planning services at no cost during one-to-one appointments at the Careers Clinic. Also free-of-charge, the knowledgeable team at Franchise Finance will expertly
guide visitors through how best to structure a business plan and access finance at the Finance Clinic. Helen McCulloch, portfolio sales manager for The Franchise Exhibitions, summarises: "As the franchise sector goes from strength to strength, The National Franchise Exhibition offers an ideal opportunity for anyone considering franchising to come and understand for themselves why it’s such a positive route to business ownership. Visitors can expect specialist, quality advice all in one place." l
