THE ORIGINS OF A LABEL WITH VISION
Blackworks Records was born at an unexpected moment.
“The label was founded by Daniel Novoa on March 7, 2020. From that moment it began to take shape with its first VA, Biological Warfare, which featured se- veral artists who at the time were still emerging, and who were also the first to give the label its identity. I was part of that compilation with my old project, and as a resident of the brand I started to build a very close relationship with Daniel,” recalls Skryption.
That first move, more experimental than strategic, soon became the seed that would give birth to a total hit. As Blackworks expanded as an events brand, the need emerged to give a solid direction to its record side.
“As the months went by, Blackworks started consolidating and growing in the scene, and that’s when Daniel entrusted me with the role of Label Manager to support him in the manage- ment. He knew that with the scale of the project he couldn’t cover everything, and he trusted me above all with the musical side, because my life was fully focused on production. That trust allowed me to bring in my vision and work to give the label a clear direction from its very first steps.”

“At that time, we felt there was a missing space that could bring several things together: giving a voice to emerging artists, setting a different standard of intensity, and at the same time building a cultural identity of its own.”
“The scene was dominated by well-es- tablished labels and movements, but in Spain there wasn’t yet a platform that represented that raw, direct energy of techno with an international outlook. Blackworks was born precisely to fill that gap.”
Over the years, the initial mission expanded. What began as a platform for emerging talent evolved into a label that now stands shoulder to shoulder with the big players, without losing its underground credibility.
