Joyhauser, welcome! ‘Memoro’ has been creating quite a stir. Could you share some insights into the creative process behind this album, and how it reflects your journey in the world of techno?
“When Covid-19 hit the world we tried to turn this period of time into something positive. For us it was a time to reflect and to think about a concept which would completely embody Joyhauser. A concept with several chapters. Our first chapter was introducing Memoro as a hosting concept. A time and place where we could invite friends and talented artists which we love and admire. Extrema Outdoor was the start of this hosting part and it was truly amazing. We invited Pan-Pot, Lilly Palmer, Sam Paganini and more. Hosting the biggest stage on Saturday at a festival that we call our home meant a lot to us. Our second night is coming soon and this will take place at the new Kompass club venue in Ghent. We can’t wait to reveal who we invited next!
The second chapter was our Album ‘In Memoro’. This was a long journey with a lot of mixed emotions, because of course this nasty pandemic was preventing us from playing any gigs. It took us a pretty long time to find the right tracks. We tried to find the right balance between proper peak-time techno bombs and more artistic “out of the techno box” tracks. Finding that balance was a challenge for us but we are so happy with the result and the nice feedback after all that hard work in the studio.
The third chapter was our

Your music and shows are synonymous with high energy and emotive experiences. How do you balance these
memorable moments for elements to create such your powerful audiences?
“From the very beginning we were always all about high energy. There has always been an emotional counterpart to our music as well but high energy can evoke emotions too. We try to showcase a wide range of electronic music in our shows, as long as it fits our identity. Surely everybody noticed that after Covid the techno scene changed a lot. Hard Techno is more popular than ever and while we really like this trend, we tried to stay true to our own identity as much as possible. Music is constantly evolving but the most important thing for an artist is to believe in what

performances. How do you cultivate the interaction between the music, the machines, and the audience, creating a coherent and impactful experience?
“It was quite the challenge for us because we never took on a project this size. The idea for a live show sprouted when we started producing the first tracks for our album In Memoro. We love doing live jams in the studio to get our inspiration flowing. Our studio contains a lot of hardware gear and we always enjoyed this way of music production, being hands on with your machines gives you so much freedom and agility. From that point of view it seemed like an interesting idea to try and translate our music into a live performance. We didn’t have any experience at all in building such a live set so it was a lot of trial and error. We just embraced the process eventually and we’re happy about how it all turned out. We really managed to translate the energy of our DJ sets and productions into a proper dynamic live performance in which we still have the freedom to make an impact on the audience in whichever way we want.
We also quickly realized it was very important to surround ourselves with the right people. Our agency The Bliss Office, our booking agent Aline, our visual artist By SOLO, our VJ Sam, our creative director/VJ Alidor, our tech/stage manager Abba. All of them were a really important part of leading this project into the right direction”.

“Well sometimes pictures say more than words, as you can see! Our first two shows were bang on, we couldn’t have wished for a better start. And this is only the be- ginning of our story. We’re still learning as live artists and we want to keep evolving in what we’re doing on stage. Just come and check us out at one of our upcoming live shows and we will surely try to convince you. We have a lot of exciting stuff coming up with shows in Istanbul, Barcelona, New York, Santiago Chile and many more”.

extension of your album ‘Memoro’. How did you conceptualize this integration, and how do you feel it elevates the listener’s experience?
“As we mentioned before, we’re surrounded by a really great team. Regarding the audiovisual aspect, we’re really happy to be working with By SOLO (Alessio Emmer) as our visual artist. His 3D graphics are out of this world. We wanted to tell a coherent story and that’s why we started searching for a good vi- sual artist, which was not an easy task. But from the very first moment we met Alessio he was super excited about our
