“The connection with the people on the dancefloor has led me to constantly explore and evolve. I’ve also been lucky to experience other scenes that have marked my path, like Ibiza, Amsterdam, and the UK. And, of course, artists like Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, and The Martinez Brothers have been a huge inspiration for me.”
Mexes embodies the spirit of an ever-evolving artist, someone who absorbs influences from multiple genres and cultures to nourish his sonic identity. His path is not solely confined to electronic music; he also inte- grates elements of jazz and salsa, proving that crea- tivity knows no boundaries. Additionally, the energy of Medellín’s scene has been key in his development, con- tributing a vibrant and euphoric character to his ses- sions. This adaptability and exploration have allowed him to build an authentic and ever-changing sound.
When it comes to production, Mexes draws inspiration from references he enjoys and plays in his sets, but always seeks to give them his own approach.
“I follow my instinct, my musical taste, and what I want to transmit to those who listen to my music. My crea- tions vary a lot: they can have a nostalgic touch, be more joyful and summery, or even more experimental. I’m constantly learning and feel that my sound evolves alongside my personal growth.”
His approach to production reveals a genuine search for artistic expression beyond market trends. Rather than pigeonholing himself into one style, Mexes lets his instinct and emotions guide his creations, resulting in a diverse and nuanced discography. His musical evolu- tion is intrinsically linked to his personal growth, rein- forcing the idea that music is a reflection of life itself. “When I started, there were already countless musical proposals, and over time, that competition has only grown. I don’t have the highest numbers, but what I do excites me and gives me chills, and that’s the most im- portant thing. It wasn’t always like this at first, but over time, I found my own sound, and it fills me with hap- piness knowing there are people who connect with it. Something I wish I had understood from the beginning is that every path is unique, and everyone moves at their own pace. The key is consistency and discipline because, over the years, that’s what truly makes you stand out.”
In a highly competitive environment like electronic mu- sic, standing out requires more than talent; it demands perseverance, authenticity, and discipline. Mexes has come to understand over time that success is not only
measured in numbers, but in the ability to excite and connect with people. The most valuable lesson he’s learned is that every artist has their own rhythm and path, and that consistency is the true driving force be- hind a lasting career. This mindset has led him to find his own voice in a sea of musical proposals, proving that what truly endures is genuine passion for the art. Today, an artist’s visibility depends not only on their talent but also on their digital strategy and social me- dia presence.
“I like to show myself exactly as I am on social media. For me, the process is the most beautiful thing, and sharing it with the community I’m building gives it spe- cial value. I also believe it can inspire those who are on this path or even those who do completely different things. Beyond sharing new releases and show dates, I try to maintain a balance so that those who follow me feel that there’s always something going on, but without overwhelming them. I always try to convey the positive side of this industry, and I think that has hel- ped build trust with my audience.”
Finally, in the digital age, music is not just listened to, but also lived through social media. Mexes has found a balance in his online presence without losing the essence of his art. For him, sharing the creative pro- cess with his community is just as important as new releases or live performances. This closeness with his audience has not only strengthened his connection with his followers but also made him an inspiration to others. Being part of the 2025 Miami Music Week is a milesto- ne in Mexes’ career.
“Seeing my name on such an important event like the Miami Music Week is something that marks a before and after. The only thing I want is to give my best, offer a great experience in my performance, and connect with incredible people throughout this special week. For years, I followed everything happening at MMW: the news, the parties, Ultra, the DJs, the music... and now to be part of it for the first time is a dream come true. I’m deeply grateful because it was something I saw as a distant goal. Life is full of opportunities, and my goal is to work hard to make this an annual tradition.”
For this edition of MMW, Mexes has prepared a special selection of tracks that highlight his musical identity.
“I want to share the best tracks I’ve recently produced that can create a special connection with the event’s audience. Discovering music is an essential part of my life, I spend many hours in every session exploring and selecting sounds. It will be a great opportunity to show- case my music, play tracks I have a deep connection with, and share new gems that have just been released to the market.”
