Welcome to our cover and let the story begin.
Hi Klaudia, It is a tremendous honour to have you as the cover. The summer season in Europe looks fantas- tic. We have seen you in the line-up of fabulous festi- vals and clubs like Extrema Outdoor, Hide Fest, Tomor- rowland, and many more. How does that make you feel? What can you tell us about these terrific experiences?
This summer is really busy. I don't think I have ever had such a busy schedule as this one, but it feels good and it’s what I have been working for. I am so happy to be playing all of the amazing events and take away my own memories from each experience. Getting booked for Tomorrowland was a dream come true. I have already played the Brazilian Edition on the Awakenings stage, which was held in Sao Paulo, but to be in Belgium, where the original is based is just amazing. The stages are truly magical, and the feeling of the energy you have when on stage is just unreal. I am very grateful to be able to play all of the bigger stages at Extrema Outdoor, Love- land Festival, Echelon, Nature One, Sea Your festival and Parookaville. To be able to connect with so many people though my music is a special thing. I love the festival season, it’s good to see so many happy faces.
You are originally from Poland, then moved to Germa- ny and eventually to America. How much influence did these three countries have on what you do now as a DJ and producer? Were you always keen on the genre that you currently play?
Germany has influenced me the most, I think. When I started going out to raves it was just another planet back then. I went to many raves in Munich and Berlin and have seen DJs from all around the world. I was hooked on Techno. The Loveparade influenced me hugely, but this was during the time my parents wanted me to go into a proper career and work in hotels, so I had to focus on my future. Soon after school I went to study in the US and it was there that I really learned the most about music. When I went there, I never planned to come back as a DJ, but I met some hip-hop producers, and they soon became my friends who taught me how to mix.
One person, in particular is my friend Derek. We went to LA, Chicago and Minneapolis for some raves and it was back in the days when there really weren’t many hap- pening in the US, so it was hard to find them! That the whole reason why I started spinning records. I missed techno so much, I couldn't get enough and there were no parties playing that music, so I had to start my own ones. I have never played another genre really; it’s al- ways been techno for me. It’s my one true love.
