From 10 to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, Hoghton Tower is staging a living history event focusing on the dynastic struggle between the royal households of York and Lan caster, which each claimed their right to rule England from their links to the usurped Edward III. There will be weaponry demonstrations and craft dis plays as the tower is transformed by soldiers, craftsmen and other characters from the era. Admission to the event is £5 for adults, £3 for children and concessions, with children under-five admitted for free. The house will also be open, as will the cafe and gift shop.
