From 10 to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, Hoghton Tower is staging a living history event focusing on the dynastic struggle between the royal households of York and Lan­ caster, which each claimed their right to rule England from their links to the usurped Edward III. There will be weaponry demonstrations and craft dis­ plays as the tower is transformed by soldiers, craftsmen and other characters from the era. Admission to the event is £5 for adults, £3 for children and concessions, with children under-five admitted for free. The house will also be open, as will the cafe and gift shop.
