charity event

A charity quiz night is being held in Clitheroe to raise awareness about, and

: money to investigate, a rare medical condition. The event, which will be

held at St Michael and St John Catholic Social Club on Junesth, has been organised by FS Accountants after one of its directors, Sarah Shar pies, was diagnosed with Lymphangioleiomyomato- sis (LAM) four years ago. Cash raised on the night

■ IK t e i W f c , Ribblesdale pupils 'ran up’ £3,000 for Sport Relief

Pupils from Ribblesdale High School, Clitheroe, paid a visit to the town’s Sainsbury’s store to present manager Howard Morton with a cheque for £3.300. That was the amount which the school raised earlier this year for Sport Relief, of which Sainsbury’s is the key sponsor. The local store played a big part in the school’s effort, donat-

ing a large hamper of goodies worth £75 and giving a much- needed helping hand with staff organising and taking part in the day of events itself. Lauren Colbert, from Year lx, was given the honour of pre senting Howard with the cheque, as she was the pupil who raised the most money.

will be donated to LAM Ac tion, the UK charity which supports women with the condition. LAM is a rare lung disease

that only occurs in women. It causes excessive growth of smooth muscle cells which progressively destroy lung tissue. Sarah said: “Being diag

nosed with a degenerative condition when you are only 30 years old is pretty scary.. However, the support of LAM Action made dealing with the news much easier. “Not only have they been

abletoanswerany questions that I have had, but they are

tireless at fundraising to invest in research to find a cure.

. “We are grateful to those who have already entered

a team or donated a raffle prize as it is looking like it will be a great night.” The quiz night will begin

at 7-30 pm. If you would like to enter a team, donate a raf fle prize or buy raffle tickets, call Sarah on 01200423882or email sarah@fsaccountants. co.uk
