N ew choice for wedding belles

BRIDES-TO-BE visiting Clitheroe’s la te s t b r id al boutique have the equiva lent of two shops under one

roof. Lulu Brown’s, the lingerie

and swimwear specialist in Castle Street, is now the new home of Mustoe and Knowles bridal wear. The bridal shop, based for

the past three years in the Swan Courtyard, has just relo cated under the umbrella of Lulu Brown’s. Proprietor Helen Brown

explained that she had taken over Mustoe and Knowles’ goodwill and assets. Said Helen: “I t was an

opportunity that was too good to miss. Denise Mustoe will be working at Lulu Brown’s in our bridal section and all her brides will be looked after exactly the same as they would have been but in bigger and better premises and under the name Lulu Brown’s. Brides will find that it is

business as usual.” As well as dressing brides

and their attendants. Lulu Brown’s is also stocking confir mation and prom dresses. Expanding into bridal wear

was something that Helen and Linda Dickinson, the store’s underwear manager, had been considering for some time as wedding lingerie is one of the store’s biggest sellers. For Helen and Linda the

recent expansion of the shop, which stocks extensive ranges

of underwear and swimwear, is added confirmation that their business continues to go from strength to stren^h. Recently their store was

named as one of the country’s top 10 “reference shops” by a leading trade magazine. Because of its floor space.

Lulu Brown’s found itself com peting against mini-depart ment stores. Well-known lin gerie specialists Rigby and Peller were also in its category. Said Helen: “It was an hon

our to be placed in the same category as these shops.” Helen and Linda opened

Lulu Brown’s three years ago. Speaking about the decision to choose Clitheroe as the loca tion for the shop, Helen said: “When I decided to set up the business I looked round lots of places hut then this shop came up, and it was perfect. “Clitheroe is a lovely place

and we want to encourage local residents to come into our shop because we offer the same choice as Manchester. “We want local people to

support their local businesses, because they offer such an excellent service. I am proud to say we have a shop in Clitheroe.” She added: “We have a love

ly shop and would welcome people to come and have a look at what stock we have. “We offer a fitting service

and both Linda and I are fully qualified to fit ladies who have had mastectomies to ensure they get underwear that fits properly.”
