governors, said tha t the whole Oakhill community was delighted that such a high calibre profession al as Mrs Riley had been appoint ed from a strong list of candidates. He commented: “She would

bring to the principal’s post the experience and academic vision which Oakhill needed to build on the progress already achieved and to realise its ambitious plans for the future. “She is joining the school at an exciting time, soon after a very pos-
itive Ofsted Report and when the school is close to gaining important professional recognition as a mem ber of the Independent Schools Association. “The governors are looking for

ness meetings, the chamber has held | the first in a series of “contact and network” events in a bid to get local j business representatives talking to each other, sharing their concerns and discussing possible solutions. Invitations to the first event, held ]
at the Swan and Royal last week, were delivered to some 350 business-1 es that have chosen to base them selves in Clitheroe. A variety of speakers discussed
planning and PR, as well as news of an interactive Chamber website to be launched in the near future. Mr Pratt said the aim of the
night was to provide local business people with an opportunity to meet each other and access information from a variety of sources which could prove beneficial. The website will be completely
interactive giving users access to meeting minutes, forums for discus sion and to enable information shar-1 ing between businesses. Following the meeting, the cham
ber plans to organise more events, inviting speakers to discuss a range of topics from marketing to insur-
