A COMMUNITY group, which works with women from z\sian her itage and other backgrounds to pro mote community cohesion, held a “celebration of unity” event in
Clitheroe. Organised by the Tamanna
Yeomen and Children’s Group, the event brought together a wide range of faiths and cultures in a
spirit of mutual respect and toler
ance. The celebration, which was held
in the Ribble Valley Borough Coun cil Chamber on Church Street, included a children’s entertainer and a children’s film. It was round ed off by all those who attended enjoying an Indian buffet. Tamanna chairman Shanaz Hus
sain said she wanted to express her sincere thanks to Clitheroe The Future for its support in making the event possible. She added: “It was great to see so
many people attend this event and hopefully it Mil assist in fostering positive relations in the town.” Our picture shows some of those who enjoyed the event, (s)

Tablers are crowned kings of ten-pin bowling tournament
BLACKPOOL was the set ting for the Round Table’s regional ten-pin Bowling tournament. Among those competing
were two teams of four from Clitheroe Round Table, each hoping to recapture the glory of two years ago, when Clitheroe claimed the trophy and the right to host the competi tion the following year. As the contest began, Clitheroe A Team got off to
a good start, while the B Team struggled to find form. zMter a break for refresh
ments, the A Team contin ued to bowl well and when the final scores were tallied there was elation for the Clitheroe men as they were crowned champions. Team captain Paul Har
rison collected the trophy and with it the honour of hosting next year’s event. Clitheroe chairman Rob
Stevenson was equally happy at having finished above the Blackburn team - a result which moved Clitheroe into joint first position with rivals Black burn in the race for the much coveted area sports trophy. Pictured are the victori
ous Clitheroe Round Table “A Team” of IValter Aspinall, Paul Harrison, Rob Stevenson and Craig Nicholls. (s)
