“Simpsons - The Movie” (Cert PG); screenings on August 24th, 25th, 27th, 29th and 30th at 7-30 p.m., at Stage and Screen @ St Mary’s Centre, Church Street, Clitheroe.

IT takes a wide screen to fully capture Homer Simpson’s stupidity and the Simpson’s Movie does it!

In the eagerly-awaited

animated feature film, based on the TV hit series, Homer must save the world from a catastro phe he himself created. The city of Springfield

orders a dean up of the polluted Lake Springfield and bans any more waste being dumped there. However, someone for

got to tell Homer Simp son that, and when he dumps a silo of “Pig Crap” in it, he inadver tently dooms Springfield, his family, and himself.

Right choice

AFTER the summer we’ve had so far, “Singing in the Rain” was definite ly the right choice for Clitheroe Amateur Oper atic and Dramatic Soci ety’s next production! It will stage the ever-

NESTLING at the northern extremity for quality wine produc tion, Champagne is about an hour from Paris. There are several areas

providing the necessary grapes for this unique wine - from the Mon- tagne de Reims at the highest point, down the Cote de Blanc, famous for

its Chardonnay and down the valley of the River Marne. Further south, the

Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier ripen fully giv ing structure and com

plexity to the wines. Most Champagne is a blend of grapes from dif ferent areas and villages, each adding to the final blend, the sum of which is more complex than the individual wines. Produced down in the

southern region of Cham pagne, in an area called the Cote des Bar, this Champagne is crafted from the best of the grapes gathered from Devaux’s 1,400 hectares of vineyards. It is unusual in Cham

pagne to be able to source all your own grapes from your own vineyards, but

for Devaux this means they can be assured of the quality of their Cham pagne as they have close ly monitored each stage of production from the grape to the bottle. Devaux Champagne is

only stocked in fine wine merchants. D. Byrne and Son, of Clitheroe, is your local stockist. If you are looking for

something with style and elegance then Cham pagne Devaux f its the bill! For your chance to win a

case of Champagne Devaux, please turn to page 28.
