been voted North-West Wine Merchant of the year for more times than I can recall. Now our other shop, E. H. Booth has retained the title of Regional Super market of the Year for its impressive wine selection. These titles have been bestowed by the Interna tional Wine Challenge, which has been running for over 23 years. It is the wine world’s equivalent of win ning an Oscar. The award-winning fam

between September 28th and October 21st. I t is made with the Jekyll and Hyde of grape varieties - the Chenin Blanc-because it can be made bone diy to intensely sweet. The wine is 100% chenin
blanc from an estate in Montlouis, overlooking the more famous 'Vbuvray, in the heart of the Loire 'Val ley. This delightful sparkling wine is not released until it has spent three years on its fine lees, giving it its yeasty aromas. In the glass the wine
has a light golden appearance, fine per sistent mousse, giving it a good mouth feel. The ripe apple aro
mas and the yeastyness give way to an almost honeyed-like creamy, but fresh finish, not too dry but a great aperitif with a lingering finish. This little known
sparkling wine is top class in terms of quality and value, especially at the reduced price, well done Booths. And cheers!
