events, as long as care has been taken in choosing the venue, menu and entertain
ment. For a number of reasons, the traditional
“office” party is no longer thought to be a good idea. So, unless the firm has a pur pose-built canteen of the right size, an out side venue must be chosen. The choices are pretty obvious really,

historic building or preserved monument for a medieval banquet or more traditional repast, are popular. Some piers on the coast are available for hire for party use. Hiring the facilities of a theme park, safari park or zoo can be just as exciting. A boat trip on the river can add romance to the evening and it is possible to hire a

riverboat complete with food and enter tainment for the party that’s really differ
ent. And if you don’t fancy a party “on the
move”, there are permanently moored boats that provide excellent catering and entertainment facilities. Restaurant facilities at some of the air
ports will cater for parties and some of the larger garden centres offer special catering for just such events. It is, of course, always possible to hire a
village or community hall and organize the food and drink through some outside cater ing firm, and/or a pub that does outside
bars. Do make sure when selecting the venue
that it will be suitable for all those who intend to attend.

A bit of forethought takes all the hassle out of organising the Christmas party outings
an other than ordinary diet can be catered
for imaginatively. These days there is absolutely no need
for a vegetarian to be lumbered with salad or a boring old nut cutlet. Likewise those with medically enforced diets must also be able to enjoy their evening out and the food
that is provided. If your selection has fallen upon the
hired hall and outside catering choice, you will have to bear several critical things in
mind. Make sure there will be sufficient tables
and chairs. Check with the caterer regard ing table linen - disposable could be the
answer. The caterer should also be able to pro
vide the crockery, cutlery and condiment
pots. If there is also to be an outside bar, the
licensee running it should provide the glasses, and organize the licence. Other than that, all you have to do is
finalize the numbers, collect the deposits, and get yourself there on due date - simple
really!
