"A Tribute to Riverdance" came along, I jumped a t the chance to see Irish dancing close to, in the intimacy of the beautiful Grand Theatre, Blackpool. Long before the
emergence of River dance, the dance company: "The Spirit of Ireland", was Ireland’s first national and inter national succesb story. The company was
in Blackpool to per form “A Tribute to Riverdance” with authentic Irish dancing, woven into a blend of both tra ditional and con temporary music and vocal arrange ments. The Spirit of Ire

you will be truly amazed at what sits underneath - See Mooky the Clown, star of the international award winning Tower Circus voted the "Best in the UK". Dance to the sounds of the Wurlitzer organ by day or the big band orchestras by night with tributes to Sinatra and Glenn Miller. Jungle Jim’s will keep younger ones entertained for hours and you really haven’t seen Blackpool until you've seen it from the top of the Tower and the glass floored Walk of Faith 380 feet above the promenade. This voucher entitles one person, accompanied by one full paying adult, free admission to Blackpool Tower. Lowest priced admission goes free. Valid from 3rd April until 30th April 2004. One voucher per transaction. Offer does not apply to concessionary rates. Not valid in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. Photocopies not accepted. Offer subject to availability and may be withdrawn without prior notice.

(BLACKPOOL TOWER and CIRCUS 2 for 1
f you haven’t experienced the wonders of Blackpool Tower and the thnlls ol Bntain’s best Circus then you must see it first in 2004! The mighty Tower dominates Blackpool’s promenade with its huge steel structure and
land has five of Ire land’s best musi cians, 12 world champion dancers and a singer with a distinct, haunting Irish voice. Sadly, this perfor
mance lacked that important ingredi ent, “sparkle”. Although the cast
was excellent, the costumes and stage setting had too much emphasis on black, and not pris tine black at that. The female cos
tumes were a little too modern to make it traditional and the backdrop could have benefited from projected scenes of Irish countryside. The musicians, on
the penny whistle, flute, Irish pipes, guitar and violin, were proficient, but the tunes became a little monotonous after a while. However,
the
principal dancers were excellent. I saw their feet
close-up, flashing like sparking clogs and, almost without exception, all in uni
son. The company is
continuing its spring tour around the country and will be returning to the North West at the Albert Halls in Bolton, on May 4th.

THE new Bishop of Blackburn, the Rt Rev. Nicholas Reade, says in his Easter message that Easter is about God doing a new thing. “Jesus had told those who were close to
him throughout his final weeks that he would be raised from the dead,” he says. “Both the men and women who had
followed him had heard him say it a num ber of times. When they get to the empty tomb on Easter morning the young man tells them again why he is not there. I t seems that they just cannot accept it.

“ I t can be so easy for us to accept
things as they are, that they will never change, that something better is impos sible. We feel comfortable with this because in our scepticism we can sit back and deny responsibility. Even when we are told that things could be different we don’t want to believe it. “At Easter, God does a new thing. He
