FR IE N D S of Slaidburn Country Practice have been striding out in the name of fund-raising to raise money to help heart a ttack v ic t im s through the Heart of Lan cashire Appeal. The group completed a spon
sored walk, the proceeds of which will go towards purchas ing three portable defibrillators for use in the villages of Slaid burn, Dunsop Bridge and Bolton-by-Bowland. Each machine costs around
£2,000 and a group of volunteers from each village will be trained
to use them. The person on duty in each parish will also carry a
pager so they can be called in quickly should someone suffer a heart attack. Chairman of the Friends of
