Big clean-up campaign for Chatburn
CHATBURN'S rubber- gloved litter pickers, in the guise of members of the parish council, are gearing themselves up for a massive clean-up campaign in the village on the longest day of
the year. All residents are being
urged to make themselves available on June 21st, with everyone meeting in the centre of the village at 6-30 p.m. A dry evening is being
hoped for to encourage as many helping hands as pos sible gather up the urban flotsam, much of which lit ters the brook side of the Brown Cow car park. Members of the jackdaw

the car park is constantly overflowing, the parish
council has discussed requesting a second bin. However, many people have complained that the one there is not emptied regu larly enough. Ribble Valley Borough Council is acting on the complaint and is cur rently monitoring the situa tion.

MUSICIANS from across the world are tak ing part in the fifth annu al Great Days of Folk
Festival. From June 9th to 11th
the streets of Chtheroe will be alive to the sounds of music and much more. As well as a variety of musi cians, special street enter tainment is also being pro vided on the 10th. One of the highlights of
steel band will provide a taste of the Carribbean, while Moon De Lune and the Bradshaw Mummers will keep everyone on their

include the 10-piece female percussion group Bang On, who will play a range of tra ditional African and Brazil ian rhythms, while morris dancers, dance sides, jug gling and magic will also help entertain the crowds. A

THE lottery bid to help with the £178,000 cost of buying and refurbishing the Platform Gallery, Clitheroe, has now
