CHAIRMAN’S SUNDAY AT SIMONSTONE
IiIHliUC Valley’s Mayor, Cmm. Eileen Lowe, and her husband Raymond, were among guests and councillors who attended the annual Chairman’s “Sunday” orSimonstone I’arish Council. Following a sen-ice at St I’etcr's Church, conducted by the Rev. Alan Reid, they enjoyed a bulTcl
lunch in glorious sunshine at the home o f chairman Coun. Ron Harrison, in Carlton Avenue. Coun. Harrison thanked guests and fellow councillors for attending the sen-ice and for their support during
the year. Our pie-lure shows Coun. Harrison and the Mayor seen with guests and fellow councillors during Chairman's “ Sunday". (CAT Hint))
L io n ’s share fo r S u perScan
A p p e a l SUPERSCAN chairman Mrs Mary Barnes collects another £200 towards the Riible Valley’s contribu tion to the appeal from the pre sident o f Whalley Lions, Mr Robert Sharpe. Five members collected
the sum in a highly-organ ised and effective pub- crawl that covered eight hostelries in Whalley, Langho, Sabden and Mit- ton in an evening. They say they are very grateful to publicans and patrons who enabled them to raise so much. The club’s lion mascot
apparently does not have a name. Can anyone think of a name that means gener osity and good fellowship? (CAT 1542)

Parry. The ladies o f the show committee provided the additional food. A tombola and raffle was held, (lames were provided for the ehildrcn.
Our picture shows villagers tucking into their food at the barbecue in Dunsop Bridge. (CAT 1668) Thrills of racing circuit for lucky Chipping duo
A LUCKY Chipping lady and her granddaughter met two of the racing dri vers whose dare-devil driving has thrilled race g o e rs and te le v is ion viewers throughout the season. Mrs Christine Wareing
