Full steam ahead for another great event

P E R F E C T weather and more than GOO exhibitors drew record crowds to Kib ble Valley Vintage Club’s ninth rally at the new site at Sawley. More than 7,000 people

attended the two-day event at the club’s new 2G-aere site on the banks of the River Kibble. Members had spent three

days preparing the site but major work to widen gates, lay roads and provide mains water had been going on for months. Among the attractions

F E L T O N — F O X Retail manager Miss Claire Marie Fox married electri

cal wholesale manager Mr Brett Peter Felton at St Marie’s Church, Rugby. Miss Fox, who is from Sabden, met Mr Felton,

who is from Rugby, while at Derby University. The bride was given away by her mother, Mrs

Yvonne Fox, of Homeaere Avenue, Sabden. She wore a satin and tulle gown, with a pearl- encrusted and Jace-embrojdered bodice and sleeves, and carried a bouquet of ivory roses, freesia, gypsophila and ivy. In attendance were dame of honour Mrs Judith

Marie Thomber and Miss Kathryn Elizabeth Berry, who wore full-length French navy satin dresses, and pageboy Master Samuel Luke Thornber. Best man was Mr David Charles Shoebridge, the

usher was Mr Robert Rudnicki and the groomsman was Mr David Barry Ashwell. The ceremony was performed by Fr Ted Mullen

and a reception was held at the Post House, Creek, Northamptonshire.

were three fairground organs and record entries in the vehicle and agricultural machinery e xh ib it ion s , . including a special display to ' mark GO years o f David > Brown tractors. One partieu- - larly popular innovation this year was a vintage auction on the Saturday evening, with ; -v.£•!*'£, items from tractors to nuts and bolts on sale. Organisers are delighted

with the event and will be issuing details of the club’s """ ' " usual gifts to charity shortly. The success means some

thing special for one of the organising team. Club trea

surer and rally co-ordinator Mr Bill Wood said: “Every thing came together for the weekend, I really am still buzzing with it. I always said that when we achieved the perfect event I would give it up. I don’t honestly know how this could have gone better. “Ten years ago I organised

a vintage display at Bolton- by-Bowland village fete and that was the beginning of the rally. Now it is time for me to retire. I hope someone will Like it over, someone who has a little more time to spare than I do. I hope the rally will continue for many more years to come and I look forward to being able to enjoy future events at my leisure. “ I just want to thank

everybody who has given me their support over the years.” Our top photograph shows,
