Our challenge was to update our client's kitchen without changing the layout. The client wished to keep the stained wood cabinets, but he was open to changes to make it feel more modern and updated. Since we had to work with the existing cabinets, we first removed a row
of cabinets attached to the ceiling above the island. This opened up the area immediately. Bold green and navy updated this out-of-date kitchen. Since we were keeping the cabinets, we chose to paint the two islands in a rich green color. The existing granite counter tops were replaced with modern quartz and both islands were treated with waterfall ends. We added a back splash of antique mirror tiles laid in a stacked pattern. New light fixtures in brass finishes and new gold hardware updated and
modernized the look. Curved bar stools in a gray velvet cozy up to the new counters which have been cut down to counter height. For the eating area, a custom banquet was fabricated from navy velvet and
accented with a green border. A wood top table with gold legs complete the look. Roman shades were designed for the window in a navy fabric with green swirls. New hardware on the cabinets completes the transition.
