Self-sampling veil for HPV/STD easy detection


Since cervical cancer is one of the most common forms of cancers in women worldwide, V-Veil-Up Production meets the WHO request for early detection, and has launched a self-sampling vaginal veil, created especially for HPV/papillomavirus and STDs detection.

ervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women worldwide, claiming between 250,000 and 300,000 lives each year. With so many cases of cervical cancer, the WHO is pushing harder on the diagnosis of human papillomavirus (HPV) and states that screening and treatment to prevent cervical cancer is still a global priority. There is interest in early detection of HPV because the earlier the treatment is performed, the more effective it is, but a major challenge remains: getting women to take the test. During gynaecological examinations, some women feel embarrassed, for various reasons, including cultural or religious values; others may experience physical discomfort or pain, while many women just don’t have enough time to make a doctor visit a priority, since their life agenda is pretty loaded. In this context, V-Veil-UP Production launched V-Veil UP2, a self-sampling veil for the detection of HPV and STDs. The product is simple and safe, respects the privacy of all women while also offers unequalled efficiency: it doubles the detection capacity of genomes, compared with conventional methods – according to a study conducted by Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris, while the concept has been tested, validated and approved by the hospital’s professor, Laurent Belec.


Simple but efficient Inserted into the vaginal cavity, with the help of an applicator, the veil collector V-Veil UP2 is able to collect secretions, various fluids and substances found in the vagina and on the cervix. The secretions and DNA attach very easily to it; the woman simply has to wait for two minutes before removing the veil and inserting it into a transport tube. It will then be sent to a laboratory for PCR-Type molecular analysis. It can detect possible high-risk

and low-risk genomes, thus allowing for a rapid medical intervention and treatment. The V-Veil UP2 Collector was first tested on 256 women in Chad (while more than 98% of deaths due to cervical cancer occur in countries with low economic resources, 90% are located in sub-Saharan Africa) in order to compare the classic method – where the sampling is carried out by the gynaecologist – and self-sampling system with V-Veil UP2 Vaginal Veil Collector. The self-sampling veil collector proves to be an excellent solution for laboratories, as well, since the kit can be used with 15ml and 12ml tubes, directly with preanalytical robots, if the UP2 retrofitter is used. The origin of this discovery Bernard Chaffringeon is a French inventor, holding more than 150 patents, and a company director. He founded V-Veil-Up Production in 2019. He is the originator of patents for the V-Veil-UP2 self-sampling veil and industrial production machines. The project is a logical continuation of his previous work: his companies have been working on vaginal veils for more than eight years. His first patents, related to this kind of product, concerned a veil that allows the diffusion of medication into the vaginal cavity during the day, while suppressing any discharges. ●
