Company insight
Salt intake is widely recognised – in science, industry and even by consumers in today’s marketplace – as a major hindrance to health and wellbeing. Fortunately, there are alternatives to salt that come with all of the original’s benefits, such as flavour or preservative qualities. Denmark- based Iposol encourages clients to add less salt and more value to their products by using its own brand of clean label, super-concentrated liquid salt.
odern consumers receive approximately 70% of their daily salt intake from industrially produced foods. The UN, national governments, health authorities and an increasing number of consumers have recognised the harm done to public health caused by high salt intake. With more consumers checking the labels on their products, conscious of their personal health, the market for healthy and natural salt alternatives is growing. To prove that wariness is correct, studies in Europe have shown that reduced salt consumption in the world can prevent up to 2.5 million deaths per year. By reducing consumers’ salt intake by just 3g (equivalent to one-and-a-half teaspoons) a day, the risk of cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure can be significantly reduced. Iposol is a super concentrated liquid salt for innovative brand-owners in the food industry. With Iposol, you can replace traditionally dry salt in many parts of the food industry. The company’s product is a clean label functional ingredient that can make its customers’ products contribute positively to WHO goals, as well as any company’s corporate social responsibility profile by making substantial salt reductions.

high exaltation of taste without the use of any chemical additives. It is available in intermediate bulk containers suitable for industrial processes, such as the preparation of products that are low in sodium.
Iposol is made in Denmark and the company is an industry-leading, innovative and flexible partner that has developed a 100%-pure, natural brine that can reduce the salt content of foods by between 45% and 60%.
The product has been successfully tested in several foods, with Iposol reducing the salt content without compromising taste, shelf-life and texture. This proves that there is huge, unprecedented potential for health innovation and product improvement in many parts of the global food industry.
Not all salt is equal
While manufacturing sodium-reduced salt is a promising and expanding market in the ingredients industry, not all salt is equal. Iposol is an award-winning product with no chemical additives, no potassium chloride and no flavour preparation. It can be prepared and used in a range of different food and drink products, including meat, bread, fish, cheese and sauces – all of which often

Iposol offers sodium-reduced salt without compromising on taste or texture.
University Denmark (DTU) have examined the differences between crystalline salt (normal dry salt) and Iposol. The answer is clear: in almost every aspect there is no difference. The main exception, when used in bread, is the crispness of the crust when a high- protein flour is used. On nearly all parameters, the differences were nonexistent or insignificant, making Iposol a clear and healthier alternative. Global health concerns are on the rise, particularly in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, and issues related to high sodium consumption are higher on the global agenda.
Despite a number of solutions and low-sodium products being innovated, few manage to meet both consumer and the WHO’s expectations like Iposol. ●
