Nourish the skin for longer-lasting youth
To slow down the effects of ageing, Monteloeder has spent years developing effective ingredients that support healthy ageing and maintains people’s quality of life through products such as eternalyoung.
A
s the world population gets older, the effects of ageing have spurred a great deal of interest. Skin ageing, in
particular, has gained attention because it is the most obvious manifestation of the ageing process and also because skin health and beauty are the main factors that convey overall well-being.
Skin ageing is a complex biological process influenced by genetic determinants (intrinsic ageing) and chronic exposure to environmental and lifestyle factors, such as UV radiation, pollution and diet (extrinsic ageing). Ageing leads to the loss of fundamental skin properties that eventually result in wrinkles, laxity and changes in pigmentation, among others.
As part of its efforts to prevent premature skin ageing and the general effects of ageing itself, Monteloeder has spent the past several years developing an effective ingredient that supports healthy ageing and maintains people’s quality of life by targeting some of the main causes of ageing: the shortening of telomeres and the accumulation of senescence cells. Our skin ages because cells within the body age individually and enter the senescence phase according to a timeline defined by a biological clock: the telomere. Telomeres are repetitive DNA sequences (TTAGGG) that protect chromosomes during cell division. Telomeres shorten as cells divide over time, and when telomeres reach a very short length, cells cease to divide and may enter a state of replicative senescence. Senescent cells are characterised by their inability to proliferate and their secretion of factors that promote inflammation and tissue degradation. Telomeres in skin cells are particularly susceptible to accelerated shortening because of their extensive proliferation and external DNA-damageing agents, such as UV radiation, environmental pollution and

reactive oxygen species that can affect them. Therefore, as we age, senescent fibroblasts tend to prevail over young fibroblasts, and the skin loses some of the characteristics of its younger version. This is because fibroblasts are the skin cells responsible for synthesising and secreting dermal matrix components, including collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
Eternally young skin
Eternalyoung is a proprietary botanical blend comprised of Centella asiatica, Cistanche sp., pomegranate and sweet orange extracts. It has been proven to delay the normal skin ageing process by stalling fibroblast telomere shortening through the activation of the telomerase, which is the enzyme that maintains telomeres and prevents them from shortening during cell division. By preserving telomere length, eternalyoung prolongs cell life, allowing cells to evade the standard cell senescence pathway and make old cells function like when they were younger. In addition to the advantages for telomeres, eternalyoung also boasts powerful antioxidant and anti-
glycation properties, which are widely recognised as key contributing factors in chronoageing and photoageing.
The anti-ageing properties of eternalyoung have been proven in a new double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 60 volunteers with evident signs of ageing. A daily oral intake of 225mg of the ingredient offers multiple benefits for ageing well and is linked to improved dermal thickness, a 17% improvement in skin elasticity and a 12% increment in firmness. This, combined with the reduction of wrinkles, demonstrates eternalyoung’s ability to restructure and re-densify the skin. Additionally, eternalyoung significantly improved uneven skin pigmentation by reducing dark spots and boosting skin glow. After consuming the product for only four weeks, these improvements were statistically significant compared with the placebo group. The study’s volunteers also confirmed its efficacy and said their skin felt healthier and younger, with fewer signs of stress and fatigue. ●
