Last year, the group announced plans to expand the brand’s footprint with 45 new signings in Europe, with a particular focus on openings in the UK and Ireland over the next five years. At the investment cost of an economy hotel, prizeotel properties offer a lifestyle midscale experience with a unique and eclectic personality. Each property is a unique space designed to suit all traveller needs; from modern living spaces and co-working areas to “meet and mingle”, to temporary homes for digital nomads and meeting places for an international community. All rooms offer an eclectic mix of urban style and a relaxed ambience to create inspiring places to work, network and enjoy life. The first prizeotel opened in 2009 in Bremen, north-west Germany, and presented a new concept of the budget design hotel. The success of combining smart lifestyle with affordable accommodation prices continued to be rolled out in Germany and Austria in 2022 with new openings in Bonn, Vienna, and Münster. There are currently 16 properties in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium, offering more than 3,200 rooms. Technology and sustainability are at the core of the prizeotel guest experience. As the first urban design brand to offer 100% carbon-free stays, all prizeotel properties are committed to keeping the prizePromise and implement the Hotel Sustainability Basics – critea set by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) – as a common level of sustainability fundamentals. Radisson Hotel Group recognises prizeotel properties as an essential contributor to its group-wide sustainability commitment to reach net zero by 2050. To that aim, new build prizeotel properties, especially leases, will be certified green buildings. Each conversion hotel will have a dedicated plan to improve the building’s environmental performance.
