Gwen Knutson ’24, a graphic design major at Queens, won the college division of Charlotte Area Transit System’s (CATS) Art on a Roll Art Bus Contest. Knutson said that her design was inspired by unity and diversity. “The continuous line drawing represents the harmony of the diverse Charlotte population. The shapes represent an abstracted drawing of the bus that the design is on. The hand drawing on the other side of the bus represents the togetherness and uniqueness of the Charlotte community as well,” she explained. “The back of the bus is an artistic rendition of the Charlotte skyline.” Knutson’s design will roll around the Charlotte area for a year, and she was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
