NFL Now that we are three games into the new season things are beginning to take shape. My original pre- season selections of Denver and the Colts have had mixed fortunes. Yes I can accept it will take time for a. new quarterback to get used to his set-up and his new team but the jury is still out. Both can still be backed between 20/1 and 33/1. However, one team that looks a candidate are the PHILADELPHIA EAGLES who are top priced at 10/1 at present. I would advocate backing them to win the weak NFC where opposition should come from Green Bay,
Tampa Bay and last year’s Superbowl winners the LA Rams. They are a general 4/1 to achieve this. Further updates next month when we should be a third of the way through the regular season.
FOR THE NOTEBOOK Faces of 2023. As certain sports start closing down for the season, golf, tennis etc it is worth noting in the diary,
sportsmen who I believe will have a
stellar/breakthrough year in 2023 and I have earmarked for success and need to be backed as a rule. In golf I have no doubt, the faces of next year will be Americans Sam Burns and Max Homa on the PGA Tour and similarly in Europe Robert MacIntyre. Similarly in Majors players to keep on your side are Sunjai Im, Xander Schuaffle and possibly Rory McIlroy. In tennis, the old guard is finally in decline and of the big three, only Novak can be backed with confidence and my tip for major glory is Felix Auger Aliassime, still under the radar. In the forthcoming Darts season I would always look to side with Johnny Clayton and Joe Cullen and in the companion sport of Snooker, good seasons will be had by Zhao Xintong and Yan Bintao. Next month sees a World Cup special and remember Bernie the Book advised both the winner (France at 8/1) and Croatia (runners up at 80/1) in 2018! But as for Qatar?? Well look out for next month’s fancies and glory for…South America – but which team? Good punting…
