‘BIG HIT’ WITH CRASH VICTIM
Gary Brocklehurst from Suffolk is one of over 200,000 people each year in the UK to be involved in a road traffic accident. For taxi drivers, who spend more time on the roads than most, there’s little doubt that the likeli- hood of being in an accident is increased. Thankfully, Gary sur- vived the incident and happily tells his story. “I was driving my Peu- geot Eurobus taxi when a Chrysler 300 attempted to overtake at the brow of a hill. Before I knew it I was in a head on collision at a combined speed of 100mph. Following the crash I was airlifted to West Suffolk hospital with a smashed ankle, a broken leg, broken ribs, a broken lower back and internal injuries.”
Gary spent ten days in intensive care being monitored and a fur- ther seven days in the normal care unit. Not to mention the next five months in a wheelchair recovering from his injuries.
Life Saver
Despite his ordeal, Gary hasn’t been put off taxiing, or the Eurobus. He explains: “After the accident there was an investiga- tion. The result of which showed that the Eurobus pretty much saved my life. It was reported that if the car hadn’t had such a good build quality, I
wouldn’t have sur- vived. The body of the vehicle absorbed the impact of the crash and probably saved my life.”
Gary is so impressed with the Eurobus that since returning to his job, now as a part-time cabbie, his first choice of taxi was Cab Direct’s tried and tested favourite.
Reliability
Manufactured jointly by Peugeot and Cab Direct, the Eurobus has been designed to offer reliability, comfort and driveability.
With
the superb Peugeot HDi engine, the Eurobus promises plenty of power and a smooth ride. Plus, the latest generation of HDi engines is a stag- gering 20% more efficient, which means you’re certain to be better off at the end of every shift.
What’s more, the Eurobus is one of the most modern and safe vehicles in its class thanks to its high strength monocoque frame around which the vehicle build and crumple zones absorb energy.
Gary says: “I originally opted for the Eurobus because, following research, I knew it was going to be a reliable cab. My first one did 250,000 miles and never let me down. I was amazed. It just ran and ran without any major problems.”
Customers Love It
It’s clear that the Eurobus is a big hit with Gary.
It seems
that his customers love too. He comments: “I absolutely love the Eurobus, as do my customers.
They
always comment on how good it is for wheelchair access.” Cab Direct’s Eurobus Access range has been designed to offer the perfect taxi to cater for every taste and pocket and offering accessibility for all. With five models to choose from with ver- satile seating options and a choice of wheel- chair access ramps, you’re sure to find the perfect vehicle for you. Gary continues in his praise: “The Eurobus is absolutely ideal for taxiing. The space is excellent. And yet, despite it’s size, it’s great for town driving too. The fuel economy is superb as well – I get more miles to the gal- lon than any vehicle I’ve had before. I’d recommend the Eurobus to anyone. In fact, my neighbour has bought two on my rec- ommendation and couldn’t be happier.” For more informa- tion on the Peugeot Eurobus call Cab Direct free on 0800 916 3058, visit

Is account work cre- ating a pile of paperwork you could do without? Are you fed up with lost chit- ties and drivers who forget to bring in the paperwork? We all recognise that account work is an important source of taxi trade revenue but we all wish we had a simple solution from despatch of the job to the driver to quickly invoicing the job and promptly getting paid. CabCard Services can now offer the solution which will be cost effective in fleets of
100 plus vehicles. Scottish fleet con- troller Bill Mac couldn't wait to get this system installed and his accounts assistant could see the benefits instantly.
No more buckets full of slips of paper. No more frustrating hours spent matching up despatch numbers with drivers receipts and matching this to specific accounts. No more waiting for drivers chitties.
No more delays in invoicing account cus- tomers.
The whole process

has been simplified meaning less paper- work and prompter payments.
There is less for the drivers to be con- cerned with and I have less to worry about and less to do. “I may even be able to take a holiday,” said Bill. It is simple, easy to use and install and better still cost effec- tive. Sound too good to be true ?

MAGIC £1000 FOR SWINDON CABBIE PAUL HATTER
Fresh from my visit to Wolverhampton last month, here I was in Swindon looking to treat another cabbie to a £1000 tip.
I’d been wandering near the Town Gar- dens, surrounded by Swindonians enjoying the warm September sunshine, keeping my eyes peeled for any sign of my famous sticker. But so far, no luck!

It was then I came across a very peculiar sight indeed; what appeared to be a huge roundabout, surround- ed by five little ones. Apparently, Swindo- nians refer to this bizarre construction as The Magic Round- about. Well it certainly
worked its magic for me. After just a few minutes I spotted it. Orange trilby,
blue
trench coat, fistful of cash – my sticker! The owner was a very nice chap called Paul Hatter, a driver with Connect Cabs for the past 12 years. Need- less to say he was delighted to have been Mystery Tipped. “I am very happy, and totally shocked! I’ll never have a day like this as long as I live. I usually only get a £1 tip, let alone £1000!” Paul reckoned he’d probably use the cash to treat his family to a holiday in Italy.
So another month, another tip and next month it could be you!
I’ll be in Milton Keynes on the 7th of October and all you have to do for your chance to win £1000 is display the Mystery Tipper sticker. Get yours by call- ing Swinton Taxi Division for a quote on 0800 024 1013* or by visiting
www.mysterytipper.co.uk. Terms and condi- tions apply – go online for details. And remember, I’m on Facebook and Twitter! Look me up to get the inside info on everything I’m up to.
