The trial and giving evidence was probably the most harrowing part of it all.

hailed the taxi, but got angry at the stop for food and he decided to drive off. The taxi was found half an hour later ablaze, said Mr Julian Elcock prosecuting. He told Wolverhamp- ton Crown Court that Logan had sent a text message to a girlfriend
used to be a night per- son but now I have to work 12-hour days as a mechanic. “I am relieved that jus- tice has been served and I feel no malice to the young man. We have all made mis- takes. 12 MONTHS FOR ROAD RAGE ATTACK BY DONCASTER DAD
A dad who used his pick-up truck to ram another school run driver in a road rage incident is starting a jail sentence.
The court also heard how Mark Simon shout- ed racial abuse at the other motorist who claimed he had been blocked in while pick- ing his children up. Taxi driver Tahir Nazir suffered serious injuries to his leg and hand when he was knocked
over and is now only able to work part-time because of the long- term effects.
Simon, aged 43, plead- ed guilty at Doncaster Crown Court to racially aggravated wounding with intent and an offence of dangerous driving.
The judge, Recorder Martin Simpson, sen- tencing Simon to 12 months in prison said: “It was a very aggres- sive piece of driving
which combined road rage, racial abuse and using a vehicle in a way intended to frighten someone.”
Kath Goddard, prose- cuting said the incident developed following a verbal altercation after Mr Nazir parked his Skoda and believed he would not be able to get out of the narrow cul-de-sac because of Simon’s large Ford Maverick blocking the way.
14 MONTHS FOR STAFFORD DRUG USER IN ATTACK ON DRIVER
A violent drug user who attacked a Stafford taxi driver has been jailed for a total of 14 months. Cabbie Colin Higgs was punched in the face by Mark Edward Groombridge, who also tried to stab the victim in the eyes with his fingers, Stafford Crown Court heard. The attack happened after Mr Higgs had taken Groombridge from Stafford to Uttox- eter in October last year. When he asked for the fare, Groom- bridge got out, urinated against the taxi and
approached the dri- ver’s door, said Mr Paul Farrow, prosecuting. According to the Express and Star, Groombridge pushed his hand through the open window, with two fingers aimed straight at the cabbie’s eyes. Mr Higgs dodged the blow and it landed on his head.
After Mr Higgs got out of the vehicle, Groom- bridge punched him on the nose. Police were called, he was arrested and a quantity of cocaine was found on him.
Groombridge, aged 23, of Uttoxeter, was origi- nally ordered to do 100 hours community work for common assault and possessing cocaine. But he breached that order by committing a further offence of pos- sessing cocaine in September this year when officers searched his house and found two bags of the drug. The court heard that of the 100 hours’ commu- nity work order, Groombridge had only attended for an inter- view and had not done any actual work.
