126 PRIVATE HIRE AND TAXI MONTHLY BERNIE THE BOOK’S EORFO T
NEWS UPDATE Due to space restrictions in our December issue an up-to-date league table together with the monthly winners for October did not appear. That information can be downloaded from our website:
www.phtm.co.uk. The monthly winners have been informed and paid out. For the record November’s winners were jointly SHORTDEAN UTD and WOBBLIES ACES who both received £50. In third place was T&T UTD who received £10. That covered the period from 30 October to 26 November 2008. The table below is the current standing as of 11 December 2008 but please be aware the monthly win- ner for December/January (due to Christmas deadlines) covers the period from 27 November 2008 to 28 January 2009. The table below is just for reference as last month we were unable to put it in print. TABLE STANDINGS Shortdean Utd have gone to the top of the table with a comfortable 7 point lead over Wobblies Aces and the way it is shaping up I would think anywhere up to 9th place has a realistic chance of scooping our season ending £500 first prize. Indeed if I was a betting man (which I am) I would think that the competition rests between Shortdean Utd, Wobblies Aces and Rock City as the handicaps begin to have less of an effect as they have been accounted for at source. The poor performance of a number of high profile teams in November has severely dented some chances. Leeds Utd, Bradford and Man City’s performances can be highlighted in particular. We shall see what effect this has in future months. On the relegation foot, A1 Stars look severely hampered by their handicap and seem destined for the Wooden Spoon. However to cheer him on and those at the foot of the table I have decided to donate £20 for the team who finishes bot- tom, so keep on looking to see how poorly you are doing! THE MAGNIFICENT 7 Due to a lack of entries received before our closing date, we have had to reluctantly postpone this competition. Regrets to those people that have entered. Look out for our combined Cheltenham & Aintree Competition which will appear in February’s issue.
