MORE SELFISH PARKING ON OUR RANKS
So let me start off with a grumpy moan.
Once again we have had a very selfish metropolitan London cab use one of our ranks for private parking on May 15, 2022. So thanks very much to the driver of the Mercedes Vito LG63 JWM - 13723 and please take this month’s accolade for being a selfish whatsit!
It has often been stated that a part the brain of a London cab driver is supposed to be larger. So I did some extensive research on this subject using the wonder web, which took me about thirty-seconds, and apparently it is all down to the growth of a specific part of the brain called the ‘Posterior Hippocampi’.
Interestingly, this is a part of the brain associated with navigation in birds and animals with scientists also find- ing that part of the hippocampus grew larger as the taxi drivers spent more time in the job which involves the use of memory.
Further extensive research of about fifteen-seconds also came up with another scientific fact that: “Excelling at one form of memory, however, may inhibit another.”
So there you have it. The posterior hippocampi of this London cab driver may be bigger, but this has grown to inhibit common sense and the respect which should be shown to the hackney carriage drivers here in Brighton instead of being so selfish as to block our seafront rank, which is the only one available to us. The unofficial out-of town Uber cars rank doesn’t count.
Thankfully with a call to Parking Enforcement there was soon a nice £60 parking fine fixed to the cab.
Now before any London cab drivers who may be reading this throw their arms up in despair at my ramblings, please be assured that I am fully aware that the huge majority of you guys would never be so selfish. In fact having put this photo and other similar ones on Twitter I know from the comments posted that I have had support in naming and shaming.... and will continue to do so.
I do have to add that if any local hackney carriage driver abandoned their cab on a rank they would also get a ticket.
LOW TRAFFIC NEIGHBOURHOODS
At the time of writing this I have just finished a ‘Teams’ meeting with the local council and other trade reps regarding a scheme that is being put forward for a Low Traffic Neighbourhood in part of the city.
As most people reading this would not have a geographical knowledge of Brighton, I will just say that this is quite a large area with a lot of streets that were built in the times of the horse and cart and so are extremely narrow and also quite hilly.
I remember in my youth struggling to get my Triumph Herald Estate up Albion Hill but it gave up so I had to roll all the way down backwards.
Frustratingly my mic wasn’t working for the meeting and I claimed that this was a conspiracy against me which I sent as a chat message. Fortunately this went
