RAGING PUNTER HURLS POT OF FLOWERS THROUGH CAB WINDOW AT GLASGOW TAXI RANK


A yob threw a plant pot through the window of a Glasgow black cab before allegedly attacking a taxi driver. According to the Daily Record, police have launched a probe after the inci- dent, which took place at the Buchanan Bus Station rank, off Cowcaddens Road, at 9.30pm on Wednesday, May 11. A picture taken from the scene showed the flowers hanging out the window after the pot smashed straight through. Some pink flower heads and smashed glass can be seen scattered across the pavement and road. Following the incident, the thug


allegedly tried to attack a driver before sprinting off from the scene. Shocked locals watched as the terrifying


incident unfolded in front of their eyes. One witness told the Record: “A guy threw a huge plant pot containing flowers through the window of the taxi - then threw it at another driver after he tried to stop him. “The flower pot took out the window and caused a lot of damage “Another driver tried to help and he got attacked - then the guy ran off and wasn’t caught. “It’s all on CCTV and it’s been reported to the police.” Officers say their enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.


TEENS ARRESTED IN TAXI AFTER BOY ROBBED AND THREATENED WITH MACHETE IN OLDBURY


Five teenagers have been arrested after a 14-year-old schoolboy was allegedly ‘robbed at knifepoint’ in Oldbury. According to the Birmingham Mail, he is thought to have been threat- ened with a machete before his phone, coat and hat were stolen at 8.15pm on Saturday 14 May. The boy’s dad raised the alarm with police before officers were quickly dispatched to the area. A machete was seized and an 18-year-old man was arrested, West Midlands Police said. Officers traced four further suspects after they fled the scene in a taxi. The taxi was intercepted at about 8.50pm. Four teenagers – two aged 15, a 16 and a 17-year-old – were arrested. The five suspects were held in custody on suspicion of robbery and possession of a knife. . The 14-year-old schoolboy was not injured during the alleged incident. West Midlands Police confirmed the boy’s stolen property was recovered from the taxi. Superintendent Phil Asquith praised the rapid response from officers. He

said: “We sent officers to the scene immediately. They’ve quickly identified a suspect and the taxi, tracked its movements and pulled it over. We had all five in custody just 20 minutes – so a really good job.” A Taser was used during the course of police action.


PASSENGER WHO ROBBED CABBIES AT KNIFEPOINT IN BRIDLINGTON ARRESTED


A man has been charged following reports of several robberies. According to the York Press, Richard Patten, 33, has been charged with three counts of robbery and two counts of possession of a bladed weapon. The offences follow three incidents in Bridlington. The first took place on 4 May, when a cabbie collected a man at 12.40pm and was robbed near to the railway station after the man produced a knife and demanded money. He then


fled after taking £600 in cash leaving the terrified driver extremely shaken. A police spokesman said: “The second incident took place at around 3.30pm on 8 May, when we were called to reports of a robbery at a shop on Lansdowne Road. The third incident occurred at 10.35pm on the following day, 9 May, when another taxi driver was allegedly threatened and robbed.” Patten has been remanded to prison to appear at court at a later date.
