Sundance Film Festival North America’s most famous film festival is a 10-day extravaganza filled with glamorous world premieres and sponsor-led celebrity events. Films are screened throughout the week, while last-minute tickets to catch the festival’s award- winning movies are available on the final day of the event. While there’s a wide array of film choices available, Sundance specialises in documentaries so those are well worth keeping an eye out for. As the longest running art event in the country, the Los Angeles Art Show has something for everyone. The five-day exhibition is divided into two distinct sections: Modern & Contemporary, and Historic & Traditional Contemporary. Dubai Desert Classic This annual golf tournament is part of the European Tour and attracts some of the biggest names in the sport, from Rory McIlroy and Ernie Els to Tiger Woods. The Dubai Desert Classic complements The Race to Dubai, in which top players compete in a minimum of 50 tournaments in a season- long contest, culminating in the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai. The Dubai Desert Classic is played at the beautiful Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, and costs Dhs 675 (US$183) for a season pass covering the Pro-Am and main tournament days.

Rio Carnival With a reputation as the world’s most famous dance party, Rio Carnival is a rite of passage for global festival lovers. Colourful costumes, wild dancing and parades fill the streets of Rio, with the main attraction taking place at the Sambodromo, where more than 70,000 spectators excitedly watch the Samba Parade.
