Grand Sumo Tournament The iconic Japanese sport returns to Ryogoku Sumo Hall this January, where giant wrestlers will be pitted against each other in gripping matches. In keeping with tradition, Japanese-style box seating is available, where you sit on floor mats. Alternatively, there is also standard arena-type seating if you prefer. Visit Ticket Ozumo to purchase tickets online; prices are ¥3,800 (US$31) for an arena seat, or ¥38,000 (US$308) for a Japanese box that seats four.

India Art Fair
This is the eighth edition of the India Art Fair in New Delhi, one of the largest contemporary art events in South Asia. Visitors have an opportunity to view exhibitions from some of the best galleries in the region and beyond. The four-day event features an eye-catching programme filled with lectures, projects and events across the Indian capital, with an emphasis on cultural experience and education. Ticket prices have yet to be revealed.

Madonna Rebel Heart Tour
The Queen of Pop is coming to Hong Kong as part of a world tour linked to her 13th
studio album, Rebel
Heart, which was released in March 2015. Madonna will be performing at the Asia World Arena for two days in February. Although original-price tickets have been sold out, fans of the Grammy Award singer can still score seats at the highly anticipated event – albeit at higher prices. Tickets now start at HK$1,789 (US$230) for a D Reserve seat at the February 18 performance, when booking online through Ticketbis.

Lillehammer, Norway February 12
Winter Youth Olympics 2016 Opening Ceremony
The second edition of the Winter Youth Olympics will be held in Lillehammer, Norway. A total of approximately 70 nations are expected to qualify for the prestigious event, and compete in a variety of winter sports including alpine skiing, curling and ice hockey. The Opening Ceremony in particular will be spectacular, and will see Lysgardsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena transformed into a sparkling winter universe. Tickets cost NKr 360 (US$42) and can be booked online.

Singapore Airshow 2016 Asia’s largest airshow returns this February after two years, bringing together high-level delegates and senior corporate executives from around the world to forge partnerships and seal deals in the region. The event is open to the public for two days (three trade days precede this), and visitors can look forward to exciting activities including static aircraft on display as well as adrenaline-pumping aerobatic flying displays. An adult ticket costs S$22 (US$15).

Gin Festival London 2016 Buoyed by the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Gin Festival will once again be promoting this much-loved spirit in the UK capital. Over 100 different gins will be showcased at this year’s event, and visitors will be handed a Gin Festival glass upon entry, which they then use throughout the day. Drink tokens are available at the front desk; drinks cost £5 (US$7.60) each – including tonic and a fresh garnish. The entrance fee is £12 (US$18) and this can be paid online.
