Who can stand for election?

As an organisation’ that promotes equal opportunities and diversity, CILIP is keen to encourage members from all back- grounds and parts of CILIP to consider standing, including those from BAME communities and under-represented groups within the profession.
Voting
If either election is contested, a ballot will be held. All members eligible to vote and with an email address regis- tered with CILIP, will receive an email with full information on how to vote online. Only those members for whom CILIP does not have an email address will receive a postal ballot paper. Please ensure that CILIP has your up to date email address. Thinking about joining the CILIP Board or Presidential Team
MEMBERS have the opportunity to put themselves forward to serve as a trustee or the Vice-President. If elected, you will work with other trustees, the Presidential Team and staff to set CILIP’s strategic direction and make sure that members’ interests are met and secure. The Board is responsible for making sure that the organ- isation is financially sound and complies with the law. As part of our commitment to equality and diversity we are actively en- couraging members from all backgrounds to consider standing, particularly those from BAME communities. We will offer complimentary membership to library and information workers from BAME back- grounds who are duly selected.
Who can stand?
You must be at least 18-years-old and an Individual Member (or through compli- mentary membership as outlined above) or be willing to join within one month of submission as above.
