sector I had never heard of until I saw the apprenticeship advertised. Through doing the apprenticeship I have seen the vital work NHS libraries do in helping staff and students provide first-class health- care, through providing them with a knowledge bedrock to utilise. Therefore, the apprenticeship has enabled me to envision that I could potentially have a fulfilling and rewarding career as a medical Librarian. I look forward to hopefully starting my next chapter in achieving this ambition: equipped with the skills learnt from doing an appren- ticeship.” – Apprentice.
Work is continuing to develop a Level 7 Apprenticeship that will allow more senior staff develop their skills and knowledge base, leading to a formal qualification.
Training opportunities
The shift to hybrid and remote working has enabled more CILIP members to take part in training events, which have been delivered digitally. The digital shift not only saw improvements in the technol- ogy, but also meant many people were more comfortable attending online train- ing sessions than they had been before. Trainers also adapted courses to ensure they worked as online events. Naomi Korn Associates continued their partnership with CILIP, delivering Copyright training sessions throughout 2022 – including the popular Copyright Essentials, which was held in spring and autumn.
One delegate on the course said: “I think December 2022
this has been the best training course I have ever participated in. Completely and utterly relevant. A hugely knowledgea- ble presenter - a real guru. It was also rewarding being able to go into break- out rooms to discuss issues and meet others from completely different sectors with their own expertise. A really great mixture and not a moment of boredom which is quite something when you think of copyright!”
Another Naomi Korn Associates’ train- ing session looked at creative commons licensing and it provided “focused, detailed and clear information given by a highly knowledgeable, confident and in- formed presenter. Really useful and has given me a really sound understanding of creative commons licensing.” Look out for more from Naomi Korn Associates in 2023, with Copyright Essentials running in spring (March 16 and 23

www.cilip.org.uk/CopyrightEssentialsJune2023), and Autumn (24 and 31 October

www.cilip.org.uk/CopyrightLicenc- es2023) will run on 5 and 12 October, and Advanced Copyright (

Last year saw another 11 specially designed training sessions held for Premium Employer Partner GLL. These included sessions on eResources, manag- ing difficult situations; making libraries more inclusive for neurodivergent people and people with dementia; and finished with Green Libraries: how public librar-
ies are adapting to a sustainable future. This year also saw the launch of the joint CILIP/Nielsen Data-driven Librarian ship training.
Employer Partners CILIP’s employer partners are an impor- tant part of how CILIP supports members. Regular dialogue with employers, alongside partnership working, helps to identify and deliver strategic priorities. Employer Partners can also receive a package of training support for staff members, helping to develop teams through a range of opportunities. Events for employer partners includ- ed May’s Knowledge Exchange, which brought organisations together for an online session on Nurturing and growing your talent. In November, an Employers’ Forum on promoting health and well- being for staff took place at the Wellcome Centre (and online).
CILIP welcomed 10 new Employer Partners in 2022. These included the Gibraltar Garrison Library, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and to two central government departments. Employer partners are also entitled to access multiple discounts, aimed at provid- ing ongoing development opportunities to staff.
Webinars
CILIP produced a regular programme of webinars throughout the year, covering a wide spectrum of professional knowledge and insight. Webinars were delivered across the year, including many focussed on CILIP’s CPD offering and Professional
