MEET OUR EXPERTS Autumn 2020

As the nights draw in, it’s time to take stock of what has been an extraordinary year – a year in which schools have had to adapt to unprecedented levels of upheaval and change. It’s also time to look forward and start planning ahead, despite the ongoing uncertainty caused by Covid-19.

This issue of FundEd will help you do both. Pooling fundraising expertise from across and beyond the UK school community, it’s a compilation of success stories, shared experiences, practical guides and inspirational ideas.

On page 21, Lindsey Marsh shares her tips for how to conduct a fundraising audit and identify new opportunities. In Last Word, Helen Burge highlights how flexibility has become key, as has the ability to view things from different perspectives. And in our cover story (page 15), Justin Smith envisages a routemap that explores new directions for income generation, while two school fundraisers share their 2020 journeys.

We explore the strong fundraising culture in American schools (page 36), and recognise the importance of ongoing community support on page 30, where school fundraiser Sharon Noble shares her experiences of developing a supporter database in inner London.

As always, do get in touch if you have a story to share. Good luck!
