WHAT A DIFFERENCE YOU CAN MAKE
There’s no better feeling for me than walking through our campus and seeing employers working with our learners.
It’s what we’re all about. Creating an environment where young people can get that first taste of their future career; be inspired and excited about their future; find a role model in industry or even have that lightbulb moment where they discover their dream career.
Focussing on careers has never been more important for our learners – and that’s why engaging with employers is vital. Who better to give insights into the everyday life in a certain profession; to share their stories of how they reached their current position; to show what the future in their industry really looks like and how today’s learners will find their fit.
It could be a talk in a class. A meet and greet in the workshop during a tour. At a seminar or expo we host. Offering a work experience opportunity or site visit. Every interaction matters.

As an employer, I know you’re taking time out of your schedule to make these interactions happen. But the impact you make can’t be measured sometimes.
Yes, we offer the most comprehensive and amazing careers advice and guidance at College. It’s second to none and recognised nationally. But having employers in and arranging visits takes it to another level.
So today, in this column, I want to say thank you.
Thank you to every employer who has opened their doors to our learners on a trip or visit, however long.
Thank you to every employer who has hosted a young person on a work experience placement – whether that’s through a T Level, vocational course or even a ‘taster’.
Thank you to every employer who has come into college to talk about their work; showcase their new technologies or say hello to learners. I understand it can be dauting!
You’ve made a difference. You’ve helped us to Build Futures and Change Lives.
