The launch event at Thwaites Brewery

THE ROUTE TO SUCCESS

For the winners and finalists, the journey to the Winter Gardens Blackpool began back in October last year when entries for the 2023 awards opened.

Those entries were validated in late December before the judging process got underway.

Each winner of an award was selected after this rigorous process of judging, which involved panels of independent, expert local business leaders.

Written entries were scrutinised by the category panels and up to six finalists for each category decided.

This year almost 100 businesses earned a place in the final round of the UK’s biggest regional business awards.

Each of the companies on the shortlist was assessed for suitability by global top 10 auditing

specialist RSM. Lancaster University, a global top 100 institution, supported the process as the official judging partner.

Those finalists were then invited to a two-day in- person judging event at Burnley football club’s Turf Moor ground in February. At the interviews, the finalists were asked to make a ten-minute presentation to be followed by ten minutes of questions from the judges.

The Red Rose awards calendar doesn’t end once the lights have been switched off at the Winter Gardens Blackpool.

Winners and sponsors of this year’s Red Rose Awards came together at Mitton Hall in the Ribble Valley in a celebration of success and excellence in business. The 2023 reception was sponsored by Mattioli Woods.

As part of the event, they took part in a masterclass held by national training company

Sales Geek, former Red Rose Award winners, focusing on the importance of exceeding customer expectations and creating a customer centric culture.

They also heard from sponsors and judges of the awards, including Paul Nicholls from Barclays and David Filmer of Forbes Solicitors. Both businesses are headline awards sponsors.

David told the audience that the Red Rose Awards highlighted how many “incredible businesses” had their home in Lancashire. He said: “It’s a great place to do business. Just keep shouting about it.”

Paul added: “The calibre of candidates that came through the doors this time reached another level. I’ve been involved for six years and each year the judging gets harder and harder. You leave the room refreshed about the strength of Lancashire business.”
