Manchester has recently been voted third most sustainable public transport network in the UK with a total of 93 stations and 57 miles of track. 40 million journeys a year are now being made on the system – an increase of over four million in the year to September 2017.


ORDSALL CHORD


Work has been completed on the Ordsall Chord. The 300 metres of new track that has created a link between Manchester city centre’s main train stations for the first time (Manchester’s Victoria, Oxford Road and Piccadilly stations) and allows for greater connectivity across the city and wider routes.


MANCHESTER - THE HOME OF GRAPHENE


The £60m National Graphene Institute is the national centre for graphene research in the UK. It houses state- of-the-art cleanrooms, plus laser, optical, metrology and chemical labs and equipment. The Henry Royce Institute £235m building is set to open in 2019 and it will house world-class research and commercialisation of advanced materials.


AIRPORT RELIEF ROAD


The £290m bypass, which runs from the A6 in Hazel Grove (south east of Stockport) to the M56 via the existing A555 in Bramhall. The scheme bypasses heavily- congested district and local centres providing connectivity for key strategic routes into the North West and to Manchester Airport.
