CENTRE SQUARE, MIDDLESBROUGH
Centre Square is a £22m development that will create 200,000 sq ft of prime office space in one of Tees Valley’s primary centres for retail and employment. As the largest Grade-A office development in Middlesbrough, the scheme will see the development of six new buildings and help create around 3,000 new jobs in the town. Centre Square is a key part of Middlesbrough Council’s £74m Investment Plan launched in 2017.
DARLINGTON & MIDDLESBROUGH RAILWAY STATIONS
Funding of £45m has been committed to Middlesbrough Railway Station and Darlington Railway Station to boost local and long-distance rail services. The investment will create new train platforms for local and national services and futureproof the gateway for HS2 services. It will also allow for better freight connections from Teesport, and help to prepare for high-speed services and Northern Powerhouse Rail.
NATIONAL HORIZONS CENTRE
Located in Darlington, the National Horizons Centre is a new £22m state-of-the-art education, training, research and innovation facility for life sciences. Led by Teesside University and opening in May 2019, it will specialise in delivering the latest bioscience skills, including the application of digital technologies to improve performance and productivity. The facility is co-located next to the Centre for Process Innovation’s £38m National Biologics Manufacturing Centre.
