Petroc Prospectus | A-LEVELS (LANGUAGES & COMMUNICATION) LANGUAGES & COMMUNICATION
This broad range of subjects covers all aspects of communication from Modern Foreign Languages to the media. You will be taught how to develop your ability to engage with the world whilst at the same time analyse social change and influences.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE FTB012
Discover how language actually works and how people throughout the ages have manipulated and mastered it. Study a wide range of texts and learn how to analyse and create text of your own. You will be required to achieve grade 5 in English Language and four other grade 4s, including Maths.
ENGLISH LITERATURE FRENCH GERMAN FTB013
Explore different worlds and ages in novels, plays and poems from different periods and genres, building on your analytical skills acquired at GCSE. You will be required to achieve a minimum grade 4 in English and Maths, as well as at least three other GCSEs at grade 4.
FTB015
Develop your understanding of history, culture and society in French-speaking countries by focussing on the key areas of speaking, listening, reading, writing and translation. You will be required to achieve a grade 5 or above in French, or evidence of the equivalent standard.
FTB017
Study and explore the different aspects of Germany and German-speaking countries like Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein, as well as additional topics that relate to your personal interest. Broaden not only your knowledge of the language, but also the understanding of German culture and people. You will be required to achieve a grade 5 or above in German, or evidence of the equivalent standard.
FILM STUDIES SPANISH FTB028
Explore the many aspects of this fascinating industry such as audio, audio-visual and print- based media. Discover the relationship between the media, its audience and the production and distribution industries. A GCSE in Media is not required but would be beneficial.
FTB038
Learn to communicate in advanced level Spanish through studying a variety of exciting topics and current affairs. Develop your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and explore issues affecting 21st century life. You will be required to achieve a grade 5 or above in Spanish, or evidence of the equivalent standard.
