faithebc.net Our youth had a great kick-off event as
they challenged the Elders and Deacons to a sand volleyball game. Te church family was invited to cheer their favorite team to victory. We won’t say who won the game, but we were all winners by enjoying the beautiful evening of outdoor fellowship and homemade ice cream. Awana kick-off also drew attention as
we met in the city park with inflatables and snow cones for entertainment. Kids were eager to talk about this event in school which opened doors to invite their friends. Te MUMS (Mothers Upliſting Moth-
ers) kick-off included an evening meal and opportunities to meet new women who were interested in the refreshment that comes from women sharing their concerns with other women. All of this was topped off with our
unanimous decision on Sept. 30 to invite Pastor Bob and Julie Stretch to serve of our church! (See page 16.) New Members: Six in September Alice Decker, Correspondent

embcountrychurch.com Te Sunday School year resumed on
Sept. 9 with a study of the Parables of Jesus. Each of the class members will again take turns leading the class this quarter. Tis has proved to be an excellent resource to give us confidence in sharing the Word, first among our own peers and then with
those who the Lord sends our way. Pastor Randy Maass is continuing the
Bible message series in Exodus. We have studied the plagues and the resistance by Pharaoh to release the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. We look forward to this series of sermons from the Old Testament. Te Mennonite Disaster Service
(MDS) Region 3 annual meeting was held on October 26 and 27 at Swan Lake Christian Camp and Retreat near Viborg, S.D. MDS Executive Director Kevin King presented an inspirational message on Friday evening and a local men’s group provided music. MDS provides the leadership and regulatory assistance to help those who have experienced loss during natural disasters. Our annual Harvest Mission Festival

On Sept. 18, the ladies of our church
were treated to a birthday party to celebrate each one’s special day together. Ladies were seated at tables according to their birth month. Our first activity was a white elephant birthday giſt exchange — giſts included a large vase, a Mexican tile, a hand-decorated box, Christmas orna- ments, and much more. Next, Val Kiansky, who attends our church, told us how God heard her desperate cry for help due to problems in her childhood. She empha- sized how Bible studies have helped her to grow as a Christian. Ten we shared our spiritual birth stories around each table. Our final activity was to eat the beautifully decorated chocolate cupcakes. Every birth- day party needs to end with cake! Denise Klassen, Correspondent

cfc-wpg.org “Fortify,” our one-day mini-retreat, was
held at the YFC facilities in downtown Winnipeg. We began the day with worship- ping together though song, small group sharing, and prayer acknowledging our amazing God. Two seminars provided excel- lent teaching: one focused on worship, the other on discipleship. Open time allowed us to visit and interact on the subjects that had been presented, and, of course, games and food enhanced our fellowship together. On Oct. 1, we welcomed Derek and
