Meet Rev. Jeremy Wissink

Jeremy Wissink was blessed to grow up in a Christian family with parents who love the Lord and serve him faithfully. Teir example and instruction contributed to Jeremy placing his faith in Christ at a very young age. He enjoyed being part of a solid youth group in high school that continued his biblical learning and enabled him to participate in many service and outreach activities. Jeremy attended Grace University in Omaha, Neb. Trough

time in classes with fellow students and discipleship under professors, he began to feel the Lord leading him toward entering full-time vocational ministry. He came to see the importance of understanding and applying the Bible to life in order to live faithfully in this world for the glory of God. To help this process in his life, he decided to attend Dallas Teological Seminary. He graduated with a Master of Teology degree in May 2010. Jeremy met his wife Rachel while they were both in college in

Omaha. Tey were married on June 17, 2006 and have enjoyed growing in their relationship and learning what it means to sacri- ficially love each other. Tey are blessed to have three sons: Elliot (8 yrs.), Seth (20 months), and Titus (1 month). In his free time, Jeremy enjoys outdoor activities, playing games, playing and watching sports, and playing and listening to music. Jeremy has been Pastor of Student Ministries at Communi-

ty Bible Church (CBC) of Omaha, Neb., since 2012. He loves what he does because he gets to do two of his favorite things on a regular basis: encourage students to pursue Jesus and play lots of games! It is a privilege for him to be a part of the spiritual growth of students as they understand the truths of God’s word, live out their faith in Jesus on a daily basis, and share Jesus with those around them. Jeremy was ordained at CBC on Dec.10, 2017.

with others. I believe it is this message of grace which men and women all around the world are so hungry for. My understanding of Scripture, church, and shepherding

is primarily a result of our church’s intentional Bible teaching and small group participation. Faith Evangelical Bible Church in Winkler, Man., is where I was challenged weekly in my faith, my biblical world view, the expectations of men in the church, the purpose of the life of the believer. Along with these personal challenges, I was also encouraged to help with the work of reach- ing the lost and making disciples. I am actively involved in both attending a Bible class and teaching Old Testament Survey Bible classes. Te goal in these Bible classes are to train men and women to become equipped to serve God and develop a solid understand- ing of Scripture. Te Bible class material was designed for training pastors where seminary or college is not an option and continues to be a great resource for men and women of all ages. Pastor Mike Comtois, my Bible teacher and mentor, has

influenced my life in many areas. He challenges me regularly with books, continued courses, and opportunities to share the Word in our community. I am truly grateful for the time he has invested in my life helping me to develop a love for the Lord and for people. I never thought about becoming a pastor — in fact it was a

surprise to me when Mike approached me about considering the pastoral role for a church plant that our church was planning in our community! Having a good understanding for the need of Bible training in our community, aſter about eight months of prayer and consideration, my wife and I decided to move forward. Mike and I now work together serving at two locations where we preach and teach. I enjoy reading, the learning process when preparing for

sermons, teaching Bible classes and leading small groups. I find the work especially rewarding when men and women eagerly soak in God’s Word and when I am able to see transformation taking place in their lives. Tis not only motivates me to keep going, but it reminds me of the Great Commission given us by the Lord Jesus. Tracy and I were married in September 2000. Our four children

are Josh (14), Makayla (13), Makenzie (11) and Jaydon (10). Since 1999 I have been a self-employed owner of a seasonal construction company. My wife is a stay-at-home mother and the bookkeeper of the business. During the summer, our family enjoys the outdoors, camping, and spending time with people. During the winters we enjoy hockey and family nights beside a warm fire indoors. Note: As of October 1, the date had not been set for Henry Krahn’s ordination ceremony.
