time. This makes a multi-destination trip appealing, and it’s an excellent option for those who want to see a diverse range of places and cultures. While direct flights to the region are still limited — though options are growing all the time — there are a wide range of domestic carriers and most capital cities are well connected. We’ve put together sample
itineraries to popular destinations. Combine Argentina and Brazil in a trip that wends its way from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro; help clients tick off two bucket list staples with an itinerary taking in Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands; or take in a classic tour which follows in the footsteps of many travellers from Belize to Honduras via Guatemala.

Feast in Buenos Aires Soak up the culture, nightlife and gastronomy in Argentina’s capital, served by a direct flight from Gatwick with Norwegian and Heathrow with British Airways
Hit the north Fly northwest to Salta with Aerolineas Argentinas or LATAM. Explore the Calchaquí Valleys and journey into the uninhabited Puna. Another excellent option is riding the Tren a las Nubes (Train to the Clouds), a 15-hour round-trip high into the Andes.

1. BUENOS AIRES TO RIO DE JANEIRO Combine two of South America’s most vibrant cities on a
two-week tour that bookends city breaks with time spent exploring Northern Argentina and a visit to the Iguazu Falls.
Hotel das Cataratas. The Argentinian side can lay claim to a larger area of the falls and longer walkways, while new offerings, such as Awasi Iguazú, are boosting luxury credentials. When you’re done, fly direct to Rio de Janeiro on LATAM, Avianca Brazil or Gol.
Revel in Rio There are plenty of ways to savour Rio’s charm. Tick off popular tourist activities, from tours of the city’s favelas to the timeless cable-car ride up Sugarloaf Mountain. Or simply drink it all in while enjoying its famous beaches.
