Boscolo Prague Prague, Czech Republic

Te palatial Boscolo Prague is in the ideal

location for exploring the sights of the Czech capital on foot, with the main train station just a two-minute walk away, with national and international trains. Te five-star hotel, formerly a Czech

Savings and Loan Bank, has 152 rooms and plenty of pizazz, with high ceilings, gold and cream decor, and sparkly chandeliers. I stay in the light and roomy Junior Suite at the front of the hotel, with little street noise to disturb my sleep. Te design is understated, with marble and brown leather accents; think 2017 meets art nouveau. Te bathroom has ample space with a powerful shower and is also fully fitted with marble. After check-in, I head straight to the spa, which includes a heated pool and dry sauna, and works miracles on my London-clogged pores. I treat myself to a deep-tissue massage

with Ana and 30 minutes later, feel as light as air. Te next morning, I have breakfast at the New York Cafe, which offers an extensive American breakfast with cooked options, fruit and different types of delicious coffee. Te jazzy Cigar Bar is the perfect stop for high- quality liquor. Farida Zeynalova

Hotel Kong Arthur Copenhagen, Denmark

If you want a hotel to help launch you

straight into the local lifestyle, the Kong Arthur in Copenhagen does that rather deftly. Te hotel rents bikes so you can join the city’s thriving cycle lanes, introduces you to the New Nordic breakfast traditions (rye bread, boiled eggs, cured fish and organic cheese… lots of cheese) and offers a dose of hygge with its ‘cozy hour’ concept each evening at 5pm, when all guests are invited to the bar for a complimentary glass of wine or beer. Upstairs, my twin room is an L-shaped

respite from the bitter Danish winter. Tough the bathroom could do with a refurb, the bedroom is comfortable and decked out in neutral tones. For those in bigger groups, or with bigger budgets, there are also two three- bedroom penthouse suites which look like they’re straight out of a design magazine. Back downstairs, there’s a spa and several

restaurants on site, but as the hotel is located near the Torvehallerne food market, the sprawling botanical gardens and the city’s serene lakes, there’s plenty to lure you into exploring too. Josephine Price
